Do you want to get your stories out into the world – without going through the excruciating process of finding markets, submitting your work, and waiting months for a reply? Are you hoping to wet your feet in the world of publishing for a supportive environment where you can have your first publishing experience and byline?
We’ve got great news: Weeknight Writers is launching an e-zine!
The Weeknight Writers E-zine will be a semi-annual publication, with submissions for the first issue, Growth, opening in August 2026. You can read the full submission guidelines or hop right into the Weeknight Writers premium community for a chance to experience publishing in a collaborative, supportive environment and have your story featured in our inaugural issue!
How we’ll support e-zine participants
How will Weeknight Writers make this e-zine a collaborative, supportive publishing experience? We’re glad you asked!
We’ll have three layers of support available for participating authors:
- Brainstorming sessions: Two brainstorming sessions will be held the month before submissions open. This will be an opportunity for Weeknight Writers to discuss the possibilities of the anthology’s theme and get a feel for the ideas that excite people. You’ll also have full access to the brainstorming area of our Discord server, where you can discuss your story ideas and work your way through story problems at any time.
- Beta reading: Fellow Weeknight Writers will beta read your story! Some folks have offered a set number of beta reading spots in advance. These will be community members, not the community leaders, as we want to judge stories with fresh eyes upon submission.
- Editor feedback: During submission, you will have the opportunity to tell us if you want feedback on your story. We will provide feedback to all writers who say they want it, regardless of whether or not we accept their stories.
Want access to this collaborative publishing process PLUS all of our year-round programming for writers? Join Weeknight Writers today!
What happens if your story’s accepted
Authors whose stories are accepted will receive further editorial support and an opportunity to place an ad in the e-zine’s Classified’s section, plus an opportunity to be featured in a print Best Of anthology in 2028; you can see the full details of this support on our e-zine info page.
