Why are we closing our doors?
This has been a summer of firsts: our first e-zine issue, our first public brainstorming event, and now our first time closing the community doors. You already know why we’re running the e-zine and related events–to showcase our incredible members and provide them with a uniquely collaborative publishing experience. But why close our doors?
Running a community and marketing a community are two different jobs. And sometimes, to do one job well, you need to let something go. So for the next few weeks, I’m letting go of marketing to focus on the thing I love most: making our community amazing for our members.
How will I be doing that? For starters, I’ll be ramping up our regular writing sprint schedule to help folks prepare their stories for our upcoming e-zine. And, speaking of the e-zine, I’ll be opening submissions this weekend–and helping writers new to publishing navigate the submissions process.
When will we reopen?
I can promise you one thing: we will reopen.
But I can’t tell you when. All I can tell you is that by the time we reopen, submissions for the Weeknight Writers e-zine will be closed.
