Weeknight Writers has long been a team of two people, but there’s only so much two people can do–and there’s so much more we want to be doing. So we are very pleased to welcome a new member to our team: M.S. Ocampo, our very first Weeknight Writers intern!
Who M.S. Ocampo is
M.S. Ocampo is a Filipina-American young adult urban fantasy writer who lives in Houston, TX. She’s a self-proclaimed “professional fangirl” who loves Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Taylor Swift, Broadway musicals, and lots of other things. My Ex Is a Vampire is her debut novel.
M.S. Ocampo has also been a member of the Weeknight Writers community from the beginning. Her endless enthusiasm for writing and support of writers has made her a shining gem in our already wonderful community. She previously rendered her assistance with social media scheduling during First Draft Fall 2025, and we’re very excited to work with her in an expanded capacity.
What M.S. Ocampo will be doing
M.S. Ocampo will be helping us bring our spring programming to life! This includes:
- #IndieApril Spotlights: We’ll be spotlighting one indie author on our Bluesky page every weekday during April as part of the annual #IndieApril celebration. M.S. Ocampo will be spearheading this initiative, selecting authors to spotlight and creating the spotlight posts themselves. Want in? You can apply for an #IndieApril spotlight right now!
- Storycrafting Sessions: Disability in Fiction Writing: M.S. Ocampo will be helping us select panelists and build promotions for our annual Storycrafting Session. Storycrafting Sessions are free virtual conferences centred around specific aspects of the writing process, with our 2026 event being focused on Disability in Fiction Writing (more info coming soon).
- Queer Book Spotlights: There are many incredible queer authors in our community, and we want to celebrate them! We’ll be spotlighting one every weekday during June, with M.S. Ocampo helping us select authors to spotlight and creating spotlight posts.
